Completing your profile

If you signed up with Google in particular, your profile starts with a few gaps. Filling them in is optional and you can do it any time.

The completion bar

While your profile is incomplete, you'll see a small bar reading Profile …% complete at the top of your profile. Tap it to open Complete your profile. There are six items:

• Profile photo
• First and last name
• Username: if you signed up with Google, you were given a temporary one. Choosing your own completes this item.
• Date of birth
• Gender
• Bio: a few words about yourself and the books you love.

None of them is required. Fill in as much as you like, save, and finish the rest later. Once everything is done, the bar disappears. If you close the bar, it won't show again for the rest of that session.

Good to know

• Your date of birth can't be changed once it's saved, so make sure it's correct. ARWY is for people aged 13 and over.
• There's no waiting period the first time you replace a temporary username. For later changes, see Editing your profile.
• Other options such as your cover photo, social links and website are in Settings › Profile.
