Reader settings: theme, text size and font

Set up the reading screen the way you like it; your choices are saved and your place is remembered.

You can adjust the reading screen so it's comfortable for you. Your choices are saved on your device and apply to every book.

Opening the settings

  1. While reading a chapter, tap the menu icon (three lines) at the top right.
  2. Choose Reader Settings.

What you can change

  • Theme: White, Black or Sepia. Black is easy on the eyes in the dark.
  • Font Size: make text smaller or bigger with the slider.
  • Font Family: Serif, Sans or Mono.
  • Alignment: left, center, right or justified.

Tap Reset at the top of the settings to go back to the defaults.

How your place is saved

As soon as you open a chapter, ARWY remembers which chapter of the book you're on. When you come back, Continue Reading takes you there, and the book appears under Continue Reading on your home screen.

A chapter counts as read when you get close to its end (about 80 percent) or start listening to it. Read chapters are marked in the list.

Good to know

  • The reader theme only changes the reading screen. The app's overall light/dark theme is in the appearance options under Settings.
  • The top of the screen shows the chapter's word count and a thin line with your reading progress.
  • Your place is saved even if you read without signing in; when you sign up, your reading history moves to your account.
