Book rooms: a chat room for your readers

Each book can have one chat room, and you decide who is allowed to open it.

A book room is a chat room where people reading the same book get together. Readers talk about chapters, build theories and ask you questions.

How it works

  • Each book has only one room. Whoever opens it, everyone joins the same room.
  • Rooms are opened from the book page: you'll see Open a chat room (if there's no room yet) or Chat room (if there is one).
  • When a room opens, people who read or liked the book are told.

Choosing who can open it

Pick Chat room from the book management menu, or in Publishing Settings on first publish:

  • Only I can open it: only you can open the room, and you'll be its sole admin.
  • Readers can open it, and I stay an admin: whoever opens it, you remain an admin too. This applies if you never changed the setting.
  • Readers open it, I stay out: whoever opens the room becomes its only admin.
  • No chat room for this book: no room can be opened.

Whichever you choose, as the author you can always open your own book's room (unless rooms are turned off).

Spoilers

Some people in the room may not have reached the latest chapter yet. As a moderator you can add room rules such as "no spoilers" and hide messages that break them.
