Draft or published: publishing and unpublishing chapters
Publish from the editor or with one tap in the chapter list; sold chapters follow special rules.
A chapter is either a Draft (only you can see it) or Published (readers can see it).
Publishing from the editor
- In the chapter editor, tap Options and choose Publish.
- If the book is going live for the first time, Publishing Settings opens: license, chat room preference, book status (Ongoing / Completed) and content warnings.
- Tap Publish. The chapter is now open to readers.
If it isn't ready yet, choose Save as Draft; the chapter stays with you.
Publishing from the chapter list
On the book management screen, each chapter in the list has a status badge. The badge is also a button: Publish for drafts, Unpublish for published chapters. You can change the status without opening the chapter. A spinner shows on the row while it works; wait for it rather than tapping again.
Unpublishing
An unpublished chapter isn't deleted; it's kept as a draft and you can publish it again any time. To take the whole book offline, use Unpublish in the book management menu.
Sold chapters
If a paid chapter has been bought at least once, a reader has paid for it. So:
- It can't be unpublished or deleted.
- Its price can't change, and its length can only move up to 20% above or below what it was at the first sale.
More in paid chapters for writers.
