Paid chapters (for writers)

Requirements for paid chapters, the price range, the first-3-chapters rule and limits on sold chapters.

Writers who meet certain requirements can lock chapters behind coins. When a reader unlocks a chapter, all of the coins they pay go to you.

Requirements

A paid chapter is a sale, with a reader's money behind it, so your account needs to have proven itself:

  • You've accepted the Creator Payment Terms
  • At least 25 followers
  • At least 10 published chapters across your published books
  • At least 250 chapter reads across your published books

The requirements show in the chapter editor: under Options › Chapter price (coins), each one has a ✓ or the amount still missing. They're re-checked every time you open the editor. These values may be updated over time; the current ones are always shown in the editor.

Setting a price

  1. Save the chapter at least once (a draft is enough).
  2. Tap Options › Chapter price (coins).
  3. Enter a price from 1 to 20 coins. 0 means the chapter is free.
The first 3 chapters are always free. Nobody pays upfront for an author they don't know yet; readers should get to know your story first.

After a chapter is sold

Once at least one reader unlocks it, the chapter is what they bought. So:

  • Its price can't change.
  • It can't be unpublished or deleted, and a book containing a sold chapter can't be deleted.
  • You can still fix the text, but its length can only move up to 20% above or below what it was at the first sale.

Good to know

  • If you later stop meeting the requirements (for example, your follower count drops), existing paid chapters stay live and you can edit them, but you can't set new prices or publish a new paid chapter.
  • Coins you earn appear in your wallet. For cash-out rules and fees, see the Creator Payment Terms: arwy.life/creator-terms.
